Overview
Liberotus is a native reading application designed for self-hosted libraries.
Your privacy is fundamental to the design of Liberotus. The app is built around a local-first, privacy-focused philosophy intended to minimize data collection and maximize user control.
Liberotus does not sell user data, profile user behavior, or use advertising or tracking SDKs.
Information We Collect
Liberotus stores information locally on your device in order to provide core functionality, including: downloaded books and offline files, reading progress, bookmarks, reader preferences, local cache data, server connection configuration & sync queue information. This information remains on your device and/or your self-hosted server.
Information Shared With Your Self-Hosted Server
When you connect Liberotus to a supported self-hosted library server (such as Grimmory), the app exchanges data directly with that server in order to: authenticate your account, browse your library ,download books, sync reading progress, sync bookmarks and library metadata. Liberotus does not proxy or relay your library data through third-party infrastructure operated by Broadly Fine.
Analytics and Tracking
Liberotus does not use: advertising SDKs, behavioral analytics, engagement tracking, reading habit profiling, third-party tracking pixels or advertising identifiers. Liberotus does not track: what books you read, how long you read, your search history, your shelves or collections, your annotations or your library contents
Crash Reporting and Diagnostics
Liberotus relies primarily on Apple’s built-in crash reporting and diagnostic systems provided through: App Store Connect TestFlight Apple system diagnostics Liberotus does not use third-party crash analytics platforms such as Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar tracking services.Optional Diagnostics Export
Liberotus may provide an optional user-controlled diagnostics export feature to assist with troubleshooting.
Diagnostics exports may include: app version, iOS version, device model, sync state, storage/cache status and non-sensitive error logs. Diagnostics exports are generated only at the user’s request and are never automatically uploaded.
Data Storage and Security
Liberotus stores application data locally on your device using Apple platform technologies and encrypted system storage where appropriate.
Authentication credentials and session information are handled using Apple-recommended secure storage practices where implemented.
Because Liberotus connects to user-controlled servers, the security of your server infrastructure is your responsibility.
Third-Party Services
Liberotus may rely on Apple platform services required for app distribution and operation, including: App Store TestFlight Apple system services Liberotus does not integrate third-party advertising or analytics networks.
Children’s Privacy
Liberotus is not directed toward children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Control
You may: disconnect your server at any time clear local app data remove downloaded books disable optional features where available choose whether to export diagnostics Because Liberotus is designed around self-hosting, your library data remains under your control.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Liberotus evolves.
